Classrooms:
Infant
What do babies need? A lot of love and attention! – and that is exactly what your baby will receive in our infant room. The atmosphere is peaceful and cozy. The caregivers are warm, nurturing and experienced. They are attentive to each baby’s likes and dislikes, responsive to their moods, and ready to provide a great deal of individual attention. Parental input is encouraged as an open and ongoing communication between teachers and parents. We are committed to maintaining small group size, especially at this tender age.
Infant 2
Growing infants are always on the go! Our Infant 2 room is designed with this in mind. Your growing infant will be able to practice their new walking skills, as well as learn new gross motor skills; such as running, climbing, sliding and throwing. There are plenty of toys to push, pull, climb on and hide in. Although the room is primarily designed for active play, the teachers realize that growing infants also need quiet time with plenty of love and attention.
Toddlers
Routine and repetition are key to a toddler’s happiness. Realizing this, the teachers provides a fun, interesting and most importantly, structured daily schedule. Circle time is introduced, songs are sung and stories are read. These activities not only give the children the repetition they need, but also help develop language skills, which are important at this age.
Two’s
Two-year-olds are full of energy and love to explore! Our two-year-old room is equipped with a number of different activity areas that will both entertain and educate your two- year- old. Two-year-olds also acquire language skills at an amazingly rapid rate. The teachers help develop these skills by reading stories, singing songs and encouraging all the children to express their feelings verbally.
Pre-School 1
Three-year-olds love to pretend, explore their fantasies and use their imagination. It is a very social age, as three-year-olds, now posses the ability to share, are able to communicate verbally, and enjoy using their imaginations. Our three-year-old room has a large dramatic play loft, as well as an arts and crafts, book and block area. The teachers encourage the children to work cooperatively with one another and provide opportunities for the children to do their own problem solving.
Pre-School 2
Four-year-olds are able to follow simple directions, speak in full sentences and enjoy carrying on conversations with their peers as well as their teachers. The teachers realize that four-year-olds are eager to learn, but should not be pushed. Introductory reading and writing skills are taught through circle time, group discussions and plenty of sorting, matching and classifying games. These activities and materials are the stepping stones of reading and writing.
Pre-Kindergarten
Five-year-olds are preparing for kindergarten by following multiple step directions and using more complex thinking. In our Pre- K room, the children practice letter, number and some word recognition, as well as write and draw in their daily journals. They are eager to read, love to write, and begin simple math. Our teachers encourage independence and more mature socialization skills. By the end of the year, most children can recite their birthday, address and phone number, and are ready for kindergarten.
Before School Program
Our school year program provides transportation to Burlington and Bedford public schools in the mornings. Our center opens at 7, and the children have different play areas where they can relax, play games, or eat their breakfast.
Afterschool/Summer Camp
Our year round school aged programs are designed to meet the needs of older children. Both our Afterschool and Summer Camp programs provide a safe environment in which school-aged children can continue to explore, experiment and grow. We encourage choice and structure to promote individual achievements as well as an opportunity for cooperative learning, and fun.
Bonus Rooms
Our bonus rooms include a Gross Motor Room, Computer Lab, Arts and Crafts room, as well as a Unique Sensory Room. During the hot summer months, we have “water days”, where we set up kiddie pools, and sprinklers on the grassy hill. In addition there are three large outdoor, completely fenced in playgrounds which are age appropriate.
Special Guests
Our center welcomes “Special Guests”, such as Ron the Puppet Man, who visits twice a month, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Clause, Magic Shows, and Interesting Animal friends.
Field Trips
Our Pre- School, Pre- Kindergarten and Afterschool/ Summer Camp programs also provide educational and fun field trips throughout the year. A few places we like to visit are Southwick’s Zoo, the local police and fire stations, Imajine That, Jump on In!, The Children’s Museum, and Spring’s Brook Park, to name a few.
